Renovated in 2013, large (800 sqf) studio apartment with den on a quiet hillside street, walking distance north of Sunset. Enjoy the large porches, full kitchen, W/D, backyard shaded by trees and fast WiFi. Easy access to everything. Spend your vacation or business trip in the hills of Echo Park. One block from Elysian Park, walking distance to Dodger Stadium and Sunset Blvd and super convenient to Downtown, USC, Hollywood and all the studios. The studio is an artist's vision for a living/working space that integrates well with the front and rear outdoor areas. Vaulted ceilings, unique interior architecture and the skylight create a bright beautiful space that you will love staying in. This large studio is fully furnished and includes a partially separated den for sleeping, a full bathroom, and large living area. BEDROOM AREA - A bit closed off from the rest of the studio, a full sized bed with reading lamps and dresser are at the back of the studio. KITCHEN AREA - The kitchen has everything you need for cooking, baking, and serving. This includes a full sized refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, stove, oven, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans, chef's knives, etc. From the kitchen window you can enjoy the view of front patio adorned with succulents and other local fauna. LIVING AREA - There's a comfy chaise that folds out to a bed (full-sized) where you can enjoy the 50 inch plasma TV. There is also a full dining table where you can get some work done or easily seat 4 for dinner. However, you may prefer to dine al fresco either on the front porch or in the backyard where you'll enjoy a nice afternoon breeze under the shade of the trees. BATHROOM AREA - A door separates the full tub/shower and toilet from the sink and full sized mirrored closet. An Iron and board are in the closet and hairdryer and First Aid kit are in the cabinet under the sink. LAUNDRY ROOM - Washer and dryer are available just outside the backdoor. Everything you need is included in the cabinets above the W/D. FRONT PATIO - This large covered patio has a tile floor, a large glass table that easily fits four people and is surrounded by a variety of flora and fauna (mostly the drought resistant kind). We've installed power outlets so you can both enjoy this gorgeous space and use your preferred WiFi enabled device to get some work done if you'd like. BACK YARD - This outdoor area is shaded in the morning and from mid-afternoon through the evening. The backyard has both a bricked patio and a flat earthspace with tables and chairs to accommodate dining al fresco. The trees provides wonderful shade, so when the afternoon breeze picks up, it's absolutely divine. KIDS: We are very family friendly. We have a 10 and a 7-year old of our own, but not everything is completely child proof. PARTIES: This is not a party house. Please look elsewhere if you are looking to host a party. The Studio is attached to our home, and we only want to rent it to responsible, mature people who will treat it nicely and with respect. Please watch noise levels, especially at night. We look forward hosting you! Access to the all of the space described above, which includes the outdoor areas, such as the front patio, and backyard, citrus trees. We're always available by email, text, phone, via the app. We live next to this home and like to try to meet guests and help them get settled in and point them toward the local eateries or attractions they are interested in. The Echo Park neighborhood is one of the oldest in Los Angeles, just a few miles from the Pueblo of Los Angeles, the birthplace of the city. LA Weekly voted Echo Park "The Greatest Neighborhood in Los Angeles" out of LA's 87 neighborhoods. Our getaway, situated in Elysian Heights (the hilly area north of Sunset Blvd in Echo Park), is the perfect location for taking advantage of the city. It is walking distance to Elysian Park, Dodger Stadium, Sunset Blvd and the newly reopened Echo Park Lake. On the other side of the hill from Silver Lake, it's a stone's throw away from Chinatown, a short bike ride away from Downtown, Little Tokyo, Los Feliz and Hollywood. It is surrounded by four major freeways: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), and 2. That makes for a quick jaunt to the Arclight in Hollywood, The Americana in Glendale, all the major studios or USC, as well as Koreatown, Burbank, Pasadena, Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Angeles Crest and Angeles National Forest. Santa Monica and the beach is only 25 minutes away (not during rush-hour). ECHO PARK AVE - Down the hill are 2 amazing coffee places: Counterpart is at the intersection of Morton Ave and Echo Park Ave and Lady Byrd Cafe is at the corner of Echo Park Ave and Baxter. For your sweet tooth, Valerie Confections is sure to please. Valerie was chosen by Los Angeles magazine as THE BEST CHOCOLATIER IN LA in a blind taste test. This gem of a bakery is right down the hill at the corner of Echo Park Ave and Lucretia. On Fridays from 4 to 7PM, just south of Sunset Blvd is the weekly farmers market. Just a bit further south on Echo Park Ave is the newly reopened Echo Park Lake, home of the annual Lotus Festival. You can walk around the lake and take in the incredible views of downtown, rent paddle boats, or dine at the clubhouse. SUNSET BLVD - Legendary Sunset Boulevard is one of the major arteries of Los Angeles, and you will find every kind of cuisine, amazing shops with unique wares or vintage clothing, music/club venues, and even museums. To the east, Sunset Blvd heads toward downtown, where it turns into Cesar Chavez and to the west, it extends toward Silver Lake, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood, Brentwood, and finally Pacific Palisades, where it joins up with the 101 en route to Malibu. ANGELINO HEIGHTS - A few blocks east of Echo Park Ave and south of Sunset Blvd lies one of the greatest historic gems in Los Angeles: Echo Park's Victorian-era pocket neighborhood, the tiny hillside community of Angelino Heights. Angelino Heights was the city's second suburb, built when downtown L.A. consisted of dirt roads and horse-drawn buggies. This community is full of stunning Victorian mansions lovingly renovated and available for personal tours if you know the right people, i.e. the L.A. Conservancy. ELYSIAN PARK - Just one block away from your getaway is Elysian Park, the vast, 600-acre hilly urban oasis with numerous hiking trails, at least 5 playgrounds for kids, and incredible views of Downtown, Griffith Park Observatory, the Hollywood sign, Elysian Valley and the LA River. It is the second largest park in Los Angeles and, of course, it is home to Dodger Stadium. GRIFFITH PARK - If Elysian Park is not expansive enough for you, your hideaway is a mere 4 miles from Griffith Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the world at 4,217 acres. Here you will find countless attractions here including Griffith Observatory, the Greek Theater, the LA Zoo and Botanical Gardens, the Travel Town Museum, the Griffith Park Merry-go-Round, multiple golf courses, miles of hiking and equestrian trails, a place to ride ponies, and Shane's Inspiration, a playground for children of all abilities. Well, this is LA and a car will allow you easiest access the city and beyond. PARKING There is plenty of street parking. No meters or zones. PUBLIC TRANSPORT On Echo Park Ave, down the hill, you can take the DASH. At Sunset Blvd you can catch the big bus and head downtown or toward the beach, or just about anywhere! Burbank (BUR) airport is the closest, LAX is about a 30 min ride. Insider tip: Take the LAX Flyaway bus to Union Station ($8) and take a Lyft, Uber or Taxi from there!
